Neoprene was invented by DuPont as the first mass-produced synthetic rubber compound. The chemical inertness of closed cell Neoprene makes this material suitable for many industrial and flexible sealing applications, such as gaskets used in electrical enclosures and weather stripping. Properties like gasoline and oil resistance, chemical resistance and UV resistances enable the use of Neoprene in a wide range of industrial gasket applications and automotive products. Gasket Supply is a custom gasket manufacturer with over 40 years of experience at producing parts and components in Neoprene closed cell sponge as thin as 1/16″ thick up to 1″ thick.
Example Gasket Applications of Closed Cell Neoprene Rubber
Closed cell Neoprene exhibits ideal properties suitable in applications where temperatures can range from –40° F to +200° F. This rubber gasket material is resistant to UV, oxidation, and ozone for long-term use in outdoor applications.
Due to the excellent aging characteristics of Neoprene closed cell sponge rubber and its ability to eliminate air leakage, this sealing material is known to perform well in HVAC systems.
Neoprene’s resistance to acids, oil, and gasoline make it a good choice for use in many automotive products. In applications involving consistent temperatures at 150° F, this elastomer is able to maintain high performance.
The closed cell structure of our Neoprene, which creates a water / air tight seal, enables its use in a large number of electrical applications.
Is Neoprene the Best Choice For Your Application?
Does your sealing application require gaskets made of materials resistant to acids, alkalis, gasoline, oil, oxidation and UV radiation? Will your gaskets have to conform to irregular shapes or seal under minimum pressure? If you answered yes to either of these questions, please contact us for a free consultation to discuss your requirements and we can help you choose the proper grade of our closed cell Neoprene that will work best for you.
All of our Neoprene is available in sheets 42″ wide x 72″ long. Rolls of Neoprene is available as 42″ wide by 50 feet long. Our team can also slit rolls to any configuration needed or use CNC or waterjet cutting methods to create gaskets to your exact specifications.
